A Rapid Development Framework for Microsoft Access

I am going to test out the free version of the SDOpenAI Access plugin to see how well it works to pair program with.

The web site is in German, but I had no problem downloading the executable file (albeit with multiple warning prompts from Edge about being a file that is not signed and might steal my first born child). Installation was a breeze since I am already an admin. I opened up Access after the install and the Add-In was already there.

I still will need an Open AI API account in order to test this out, and I am limited to the various OpenAI ChatGPT systems, but so far, that does not bother me. Normally I use CoPilot chat since I try to stick to Microsoft Products as best as I can.

Here is the page of the site with a link to download the program with a free 30 day trial: SDOpenAI MS Access Add-In

I think I’ll also be able to get a free trial for the OpenAI API account. We’ll see. I’ll let you know what options I find there. That’s a whole separate animal, but is what the SDOpenAI plugin uses for it’s AI brain.

I’m wanting to do this so that I will be able to have options available inside of the Access VBA IDE and for the AI to be able to see the code I am writing as well as all my forms and tables in the database so it can actually give me code samples that MIGHT even work for my database.

The single user license for SDOpenAI at the time I’m composing this message is 59 Euros for the life of the major version. Other costs will be charged by the license to use the API at OpenAI.
